Paul Rai

Bachelor of Arts (Economics), Master of Business Administration

Paul Rai is now in his sixth year as an instructor and brings over 14 years of coaching experience to the Program.

Paul’s experience includes coaching in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Sherwood Park Crusaders and Fort Saskatchewan Traders. Paul also coached in the Alberta Midget Hockey League and Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League with the Sherwood Park Kings Club.

Paul played his minor hockey in Sherwood Park before playing for the Sherwood Park Crusaders for one year.

After graduating from high school he attended Dartmouth College (NCAA) and played four years of Division I hockey before graduating with his Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree.

Paul credits Ken Hitchcock for teaching him the work ethic required to compete in athletics. Paul played two years of Midget hockey for the Alberta Chain under the coaching of Ken Hitchcock. Those were formative years for Paul and formed the foundation of his coaching philosophy. Many other coaches influenced Paul during his minor hockey career and one other man, Ken Fisher, provided the guidance that Paul required as a youngster. Not enough can be said about the minor hockey coaches that helped the development process for Paul.

Paul’s other love is lacrosse where Paul has won two National Championships as player/coach with the Edmonton Outlaws Senior Men’s Club. Paul also coached the Team Alberta in the Bantam National Championships held in Whitby, Ontario. Paul coached the team to a fourth place finish at the championships. Paul was instrumental in developing a TLP Power – The Lacrosse Program at Vimy Ridge, which is now in its fourth year. It has grown from a start of 12 student-athletes to an enrollment of 35 student-athletes.
