Steve Hamilton
Bachelor of Education, University of Alberta
Steve attended Northern Michigan University (NCAA) on a hockey scholarship after spending one year with the Sherwood Park Crusaders of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Steve played for four years until a serious back injury put a halt to his playing career. He then returned to Edmonton and completed his Education degree at the U of A. This is Steve's 10th year in the program, but he has been teaching in Edmonton Public Schools for fourteen years.
Steve is currently an Assistant Coach with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League after spending the previous four seasons as GM/Coach of the Spruce Grove Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Steve was recognized as a 3-time winner of the AJHL Coach of the Year (2006,2009,2010) and led the Saints to an AJHL championship in 2010 after a spectacular 52-4-1-3 regular season. The Saints set numerous AJHL records including most wins (52), fewest losses (4), fewest goals against (99), and most shutouts (11) in a single season.
If you are looking at the Hamilton name and wondering if Steve is related to the Edmonton Oilers' first ever captain and former Oil King great Al Hamilton, he is his son. Not only that, but Steve's uncle is Rod Phillips (the Hall of Fame "Voice of the Oilers").
Steve and his wife Nancy are very proud parents of two daughters, Samantha (6) and Kaleigh (3) and have a son Ty (1).
