Dan Bouwmeester

Mr. Bouwmeester will be instructing with The Hockey Program in the afternoons for the 2011-12 school year. He retired as a full-time teacher, in 2007, after a 34 year career with Edmonton Public and St. Albert School Districts.

Mr. Bouwmeester, a former Golden Bear hockey player from 1968 to 1972, was an assistant coach with the University of Alberta Golden Bears for seven years, having won six Canada West Championships and two Canadian National Championships. Prior to that, he spent three years as an assistant coach with the U of A Pandas Hockey Team while winning three Canada West titles and the first Panda Canadian National Championship in 2000. Last season, he once again assisted Howie Draper with the Pandas as they made yet another appearance at the National Championships.

He coached minor hockey with the Mill Woods Bruins for nine years and was the head coach for Team Brick from 1991 to 1993, winning the Brick Super Novice Tournament in 1992 and 1993.

He is married to Gena, a Grade Two teacher at Abbott School, and has two children, Jill and Jay.
